Corporate Photography.

This type of photography can be of an annual report style, that is a photo journalistic approach to shooting facilities and services. Or it can be Product photography for annual reports, brochures, product spec sheets or anything else that a corporation may need to communicate about its products, services and corporate health. So this is generally location photography and is usually shot using available lighting although on occassion it is necessary to using lighting to either provide enough light for exposure, correct for bad lighting or create a dramatic effect. But sometimes products and even people are brought to the studio if a particular effect is desired than the less structured environment of business facilities allow. The difficulties to be overcome with this style is mainly the problems with the artificial available light which is usually overhead and of various color balances. In addition, we want the business to look as neat and clean as possible. Digital cameras and the latest versions of PhotoShop have helped with this, but good lighting is good lighting and no amount of PhotoShop can create the proper light to describe people, places or products correctly. This is a function of "painting with light" or using light as an artist uses a brush to describe the situation as desired. Most work stations, manufacturing floors and offices are reflective of work in process especially fast growing companies whose facilities are usually lagging behind need. So it is not so much the photography that is difficult; rather it is the preping of the site. preparing the people to look their best (no "Truckin' Momma T-shirts) and product in evidence. Usually we are working with employees who are seldom professional models. This takes a lot of time and film to capture just the right expressions and body language suitable to represent what we want say about the company. |
